1. MS ACTE recommends increasing the salaries of Career and Technical Educators to be in alignment with education, business, and industry averages in the Southeastern United States. 2. MS ACTE recommends increases in funding for: - The Office of Career Technical Education and Workforce Development - The C.M. Brewer FFA Leadership Center budget. The FFA Center is used by all CTE student organizations. - Extended contracts for Secondary Career and Technical Teachers for the purpose of enhancing economic development. - The purpose of establishing and equipping new CTE programs aligned with needs of state and local workforce. 3. MS ACTE recommends increased collaboration between MDE, MS legislature, Acceler-ateMS, and other relevant agencies to meet workforce needs including the continuation of funding of workforce training and development to enable secondary career and tech-nical education to prepare and upgrade the workforce. 4. MS ACTE supports pay raises for the State Staff and the Technical Education Staff. 5. MS ACTE recommends continued support for salary supplements and incentives for the National Board Certified Teachers. 6. Technical amendment to H.B. 1388 - Include language that allows districts to spend grant funds on equipment - Increased flexibility for MDE to allow certifications not included on the SWIB list to count in the acceleration component of accountability model. |
